You are blessed!
February 12th, 2010
I just have to talk about this great blessedness that exists within our reach.
The blessedness that i, and you, have. The blessedness which, tragically, so many of God’s children are unaware of. And being unaware, they go seeking the other blessed, seeking to be prospered.
This will be a five part series.
I dare you to read all the five parts. If, afterward reading it, you do not have an “Aha” moment, i strong advice you to stop reading this blog, for it is of no benefit to you.
- Part One: Blessed! The old blessing
- Part Two: Blessed! Now!
- Part Four: Blessed to have “nothing”.
- Part Three: Prosperity, when your heart is right.
- Part Five: Blessed? Ask yourself this.
What the world needs: good hearts not great brains
December 7th, 2008
Are the world’s problems caused by man and his development activities or do they just occur as part of the natural cycle of life and thus mostly beyond us? Or are they the very acts of God?
There is no doubt in my mind that apart from the truly natural disasters ( e.g earthquakes ) the vast majority of the problems we face on this earth are man-made. You might brightly point out that there are also “evil forces” at work on earth. I know that and agree that indeed there are. But as much as i acknowledge the existence of such forces ( and in fact believe that these forces are very ferocious and destructive than most people realize ), the Bible teaches that these “external” forces can only operate in our society via the permission of man, i.e. through man’s hands. So it is still true that 99.99….9% of the world’s problem are man-caused.
It should therefore follow that the solution to such problems reside with man.
So it would logically follow that what we need are more men with great brains. We need more ( scientifically and technologically ) trained men. Will that solve our problems?

Why Christians suffer: a lesson from a child
November 17th, 2008
There is no doubt that one of the most difficult problems for human beings to fathom is that of suffering. To the non believers, suffering makes no sense. In fact, many people turn away from believing in the Lord God because their logic about the Christian God and human suffering does not match:
If God is good and all powerful, why is there suffering in the world?, goes the popular question.
People who contemplate this question as stated will conclude ( erroneously ) that since suffering is real in the world, then either there is no God or there is a God but He cannot be good and all powerful at the same time. ( See here for more, if you are interested in more insights on that question.)
Why do Christians suffer?
But Christians who believe that the Lord is good and all powerful also have a problem with the idea of suffering. Why do Christians suffer? Somehow we expect that once we become sons and daughters of God, we should be shielded and not be subjected to any more suffering. Many great Bible teachers have attempted to explain the problem of suffering, so you can read those explanations, if you need to. I will not offer any complex explanations, for i am not a great bible teacher.

The Obama inspiration
November 5th, 2008
Now that everyone is talking how President Obama’s rise is an inspiration to people all over the world, let me add my voice to the chatter. Of course you probably know all these things i will be saying, but a reminder is not bad.
1 When the Lord sets you up, nothing and no one can stop you
Because i believe that:
It is God alone who judges;
he decides who will rise and who will fall. (Psalm 75:7, NLT)
I see the Lord’s hand in President Obama’s rise. So, all the circumstances that worked out to his advantage, i look at them as the Lord’s doing. If you consider the odds, and how somehow things that favored him “just” fell into place, you have to wonder not a little but much.

This is success indeed!
November 3rd, 2008
This is the Lord’s definition of success:
Completing the task assigned to you by the Lord. Even if it is just one task.
But first, Let us start with what success is not. My list may surprise some of you.
Extreme wealth
Who does not envy great men such as Warren Buffet? The man is a genius at wealth building. I doubt there is any young Wall Street wealth builder who does not aspire to be as successful as Warren.
So, if you could be so wealthy that you could purchase or finance all the operations of the governments of countries in Africa, are you successful? To us mortals yes, we will look upon you with awe. But to the Lord, NO.
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? ( Mark 8:36, NLT )
Now, as far as the Bible is concerned, if you are not born again, your soul is lost. And it then does not really matter what you do in this life. Everything would be all vanity.
