Does the Lord God hate gays?
January 4th, 2010
“God hates gays.” seen on a protest sign carried by protesters.
That is extremely absurd. At least to a visitor from another planet.
But lo and behold, if you live in these united states of America, and if you identify yourself with the political Evangelical Christianity you might actually start to believe that statement. You are even more likely to be swayed since some of these protests are sponsored by or somehow affiliated with the Evangelical “Christian” movement or “Family Value” preaching organizations.
Does our Lord hate anyone? No. That is an absurd thought.
( If you are gay, please be assured the Lord loves you, but hates all sin, including yours, and unless you are born again, you will be certainly lost for ever. )
To make it clear for you, let us begin at the beginning.
Back to Eden
When Adam was created, the Lord told him;
15 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.” (Gen 2:15-17 NIV)
When the Devil found Eve, he told her the exact opposite, coated with some truth;
He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Gen 3:1, 4-5 NIV )
See? That is what the Devil does: always say the opposite of what the Lord says. But he does it so cleverly,and always includes one or two truths, and unless you are careful, he will deceive you.
God is love
In the previous post, What manner of love is this“, we stated that God is love.
In fact, that is the reason of the Bible was written, to show that God loves men and women, sinful or not.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. ( John 6:16-18 NIV)
Everyone.
15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. ( 1 Timothy 1:15 NIV)
Is homosexuality a sin? Absolutely.
In fact, it is one sin that shows that the person committing it, and the society accommodating the sin, is about to be “given over” by God to all types of evil, normally, a point of no return. Unless they repent.
But does the Lord hate the sinner? Absolutely not. He hates he sin, but never the sinner.
So, if you hear “God hates gays”, who do you think is talking? The devil of course.
So next time you see such signs or talk, please distance yourself from it. Otherwise you are foolishly thinking you are fighting for God, when in reality, you are doing two things:
- advancing the course of the Devil, and in the process
- paving the way for Christians to be persecuted.
Standing against sin.
The Lord hates all sin. Lies. Theft. Hate. Homosexuality. Murder.
6But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. ( Rev 3:6 NIV)
So how can you advance His course and “fight” such sins as homosexuality and abortion?
Be a true Christian, showing love for all. Be a witness for Christ. Pray for and and stand in the gap for the gays and the abortionists.
Those actions may sound foolish to you. But i assure you, unless you fight it spiritually, you will lose.
You see, you are in a fight. But your fight is not physical. It is spiritual. You fight against spiritual forces, not men and women. If you fight it with physical means, you will lose. Use spiritual weapons and you win:
4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. ( 1 Corinthians 10:4-5 NIV)
